While most sightings are concerned with individual craft,there have been reports of smaller craft joining a larger 'Mothership' type ufo (please check Cigar/Dirigible for a report of this type)

However equally as rare is the 'split craft' where the ufo splits into two separate parts. Sometimes it is in two equal parts,at other times it is a smaller craft that splits off.

As to why alien entities would use this method one can only speculate,but it seems reasonable to suggest when a smaller craft splits off it could be used for scouting.

A fellow ufo enthusiast has kindly submitted his sighting of this rare craft,and to what he is convinced was a 'split craft'

From where I was standing to the ufo's was around 400 yards or less, and they were hovering about a 100 feet over the tree tops.They stayed in that spot for about 1 to 2 minutes,and did not make any sound.

The two I saw were jet black and one looked like a ten gallon hat and the other looked like a football helmet....they were side by side and the one that looked like the football helmet had smoke coming out the back.

It was late in the evening when I saw them and the sun was just going down. It looked to me like the one that looked like a ten gallon hat maybe could fit into the football helmet type to make one craft, but that was just my observation.

I observed them for about a minute and when I turned my head and looked back, which wasn't over ten seconds at the most they were gone, and all that was left was the smoke trail from the football helmet looking craft.

The smoke stayed there for about 5 minutes.

In the spring of 1968, I was standing in my front yard with a few of my relatives. I was looking to the south over the town of Delta, CO(western Colorado)and saw a very large object that seemed to be moving away from me and slowly rising.

The object was spherical and bright red, it also seemed to have a glow about it. After watching this object for approx. 15-20 seconds it suddenly split into two separate objects.

Both objects took off at a very high rate of speed, with one moving in a horizontal western direction and the other moving in an upward southeast direction. They both were moving at such a great speed that they were out of vision in just a few seconds.

This happened over thirty years ago and is not a fantastic sighting, but I am curious if there is anybody out there who might have been in the area during this time and witnessed anything like this.

Large sphere floating in two half's then moving together before moving south

Driving to work,spotted sphere in general area of sunrise,sphere was divided into two parts vertically.

Sphere stayed there for approx. 2 mins then came together and started to move south.It then moved down below a range of hills after approx. 3 mins.

Witnessed from approx. half mile away.Sphere was as bright as polished chrome,looked a bit like a giant ball bearing, approx. size 35m across.

I am a retired real-estate Agent. A fifty-five year old homemaker.

My husband a retired Policeman and I were asleep on the evening of the occurrence. I awakened to go to the bathroom and as I looked out our bathroom window to the Southwest, over the treetops I thought I was looking at a full moon.

As I started to wonder why the moon was so large and low in the sky, it slowly began moving and changing colors.Then it started to spin and split into two spheres. The colors had been yellow gold to orange, somewhat like a fire. I was in shock and overwhelmed. I said outloud "I can't deal with this" & went back to bed unable to talk about it for quite sometime, but I'll NEVER forget.
